Selling real estate in a small town means wearing many hats, yes there are areas in Owen Sound where one can specialize, such as waterfront properties, rural properties including lots and land and residential properties.
Commercial, industrial and development activity in small town Ontario means hooking yourself up with experts from outside the area. A broad range of experiences leads to a broader understanding, yes...but isn't it better to know a lot about one thing rather than a little about a lot of things. A classic dilemma.
